WATCH: Mike Rogers Ties Himself In Knots Defending Trump’s Corrupt, Cost-Raising Agenda

LANSING — Last night, Mike Rogers squirmed his way through an interview with 60 Minutes, during which he praised the Trump administration’s handling of inflation, said he believes Trump’s tariffs have been good for Michigan, declined to weigh rin on the prospect of Trump escalating or prolonging the Iran war, and refused to say whether the Trump administration has a corruption problem.

Frustrated at the line of questioning, Rogers said he “doesn’t hear about” any of these issues on the campaign trail, before declining to give the second Trump administration a letter grade.

Read and watch excerpts from Mike Rogers’ disastrous 60 Minutes interview below:

Douthat: “Is that the biggest driver of inflation, the Iran war?”

Rogers: “I think the president’s actually done a good job getting costs under control where he can.”

Douthat: “So you think the Trump tariffs, overall—which is clearly one of the administration’s signature economic policies—has been good for Michigan?”

Rogers: “I do.”

Douthat: “You would not be happy if the president, after the midterm election, decided to escalate against Iran?”

Rogers: “I’m not even going to speculate on that.”

Douthat: “Let’s say you’re in the Senate. Six months go by, the U.S. is still in some kind of quagmire. Would you support Senate or Congressional action to bring the war to an end?”

Rogers: “Hypothetical. I’m not gonna go there.”

Douthat: “Do you think that the Trump administration has a corruption problem?”

Rogers: “I don’t even know. It’s all speculation.”

Douthat: “On that issue, like Iran, like tariffs, the Senate has been unwilling to take the next step when those kinds of conversations don’t seem to go anywhere…”

Rogers: “Those are a lot of issues — honestly, I don’t hear about those issues on the campaign trail. I just don’t.”

Douthat: “If you had to give the second Trump administration a grade, what would it be?”

Rogers: “I’m an easy grader. So you don’t wanna do that.”
