LANSING– Michigan Democratic Party Chair Lavora Barnes highlighted MDP’s organizing and voter protection work during an interview yesterday while contrasting the Democratic Party’s positive agenda with Donald Trump’s broken promises.
“We hired organizers to work on the ground in 2017 and we’ve never stopped,” said MDP Chair Lavora Barnes. “We understand we win this with a grassroots movement of folks who are ready to get on the phones, get on the doors and then get out to vote. We’re talking to voters all over the state about the kitchen table issues that are important to them. Does the economy work for me, or do I need to work two or three jobs to put food on the table and pay for my prescription drugs? Is healthcare safe, or is this administration going to take away protections for pre-existing conditions? Those issues are the important issues we’re talking about and we will continue to talk about.”
