LANSING — In response to Senate Republicans’ vote to pass the SNAP and Medicaid-gutting budget bill, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Curtis Hertel released the following statement:
“Millions of Michiganders will see their costs go up thanks to Republicans in DC choosing to help billionaires over working families. Republicans are trying to gut Medicaid and SNAP programs and put thousands of jobs and even more lives at risk as hospitals are forced to close and families lose coverage.
“This budget is not just cruel, it’s stupid and a financial disaster for our state and the whole country. This bill is a betrayal of the American Dream that has been promised to generations as Republicans crush working families to benefit the ultra wealthy.”
