LANSING — Tonight, following the second gubernatorial debate on WDIV in Detroit, Michigan Democratic Party Chair Curtis Hertel issued the following statement: 

“Tonight, John James once again struggled to defend his support for Donald Trump’s disastrous policies, including voting in support of the Iran War, voting three times to raise healthcare premiums, and backing Trump’s tariffs on Canada. While in Washington, James has consistently voted to make life more expensive for Michiganders—all while he’s lined his own pockets and made millions of dollars through illegal stock trades.

“Jocelyn Benson has a clear agenda to make life more affordable for Michigan families. As Secretary of State, she’s saved us time and money, and as our next governor, Jocelyn will work to lower costs, raise wages, and end corruption.

“The choice in this race is clear: Jocelyn Benson is fighting to lower costs and stand up to Republican chaos in Washington, while John James will only bring more of Trump’s price-hiking agenda to Michigan. We look forward to seeing John James become a three-time statewide loser in less than three weeks.”
