LANSING — Mike Rogers is under fire after video resurfaced of Rogers revealing his real reason for running for Senate: Donald Trump personally called him and told him “Mike, I need you to do this. I need you in the Senate.”
As first reported by The New York Times, Rogers admitted at an October campaign event in Muskegon that “Trump convinced him to get back on the campaign trail.” While running for Senate, Rogers has repeatedly pledged to rubber stamp Trump’s toxic agenda and has said Michiganders who blame his and Trump’s agenda for spiking costs are “nuts” and have “Trump derangement.”

- MIKE ROGERS: “And I tell you why, why would somebody do this not only once, but twice? You gotta be nuts to do it the first time. You gotta be really nuts to do the second time. But when the President called and said, ‘Mike, I need you to do this. I need you in the Senate and here’s the only thing I’m going to ask you, win.’ I said, ‘Mr. President, we’re all in. We’re going to do this.’” [Mike Rogers at Muskegon campaign event, 10/17/25]
