LANSING — Today, the Michigan Democratic Party and Abdul for Senate jointly released an ad, “Grandson,” featuring Abdul El-Sayed’s grandparents who call out lying ads and speak to Abdul’s commitment to taking on the powerful and doing the right thing.
Jan, Abdul’s grandfather: We’re Presbyterian! There’s lots of ads making our grandson, Abdul, seem different.
Judy, Abdul’s grandmother: And he is different.
Jan: Different by how he takes on the powerful.
Judy: Stop listening to those lying ads. Take a walk. Read a book. Go on a boat ride, maybe. They think they can fool us.
Transcript:
Trump: El-Sayed, he’s a total communist
Judy (Abdul’s grandma): Communist?
Jan (Abdul’s grandpa): We’re Presbyterian! There’s lots of ads making our grandson, Abdul, seem different.
Judy: And he is different.
Jan: Different by how he takes on the powerful.
Judy: Stop listening to those lying ads. Take a walk. Read a book. Go on a boat ride, maybe. They think they can fool us.
Jan: But us seniors, we’re hip. Abdul doesn’t always say the right thing.
Judy (to Jan): He got that from you!
Jan: But he does the right thing.
