LANSING — Yesterday at the Mackinac Policy Conference, out-of-touch GOP Senate candidate Mike Rogers doubled down on supporting the Iran War amid skyrocketing gas prices, Michigan Advance reports.
Rogers’ continued support for the Iran War comes after he repeatedly dismissed Michiganders’ concerns about paying more at the pump, saying at a recent campaign event “We’re gonna be fine, we got plenty of oil.”
Read key excerpts from Michigan Advance’s report:
- While not directly tied to housing, President Donald Trump’s war in Iran is complicating affordability by driving up oil prices and complicating the supply chain. That’s on top of the hardships average people are facing due to Trump’s tariff price hikes, with those measures affecting food prices and other goods.
- Rogers was quick to have Trump’s back on the war.
- “I think most people agree that we had to stop Iran from getting overboard. I passionately believe that,” he said. “Trust me, they were getting close in 2014 I’ll guarantee you. … The president has also been working on cost structure issues, on making sure that we get fuel down.”
