LANSING — New reporting from Heartland Signal sheds a light on how nearly half of Republican Terri DeBoer’s fundraising so far in the 3rd Congressional District has come from the billionaire DeVos family. In response to the DeVos family funding DeBoer’s campaign, Michigan Democratic Party Chair Curtis Hertel released the following statement:
“If Terri DeBoer was a good weather person, she’d realize the political climate: Michiganders are sick and tired of billionaires buying elections. DeBoer’s fundraising shows that, if elected, her marching orders would come not from working Michiganders, but from billionaires like Betsy DeVos, who have already done more than enough damage to Michigan kids and the nation.”
- Heartland Signal reported that 43% of DeBoer’s total campaign contributions have come from DeVos family members and their associates.
- The American Federation of Teachers summarized Betsy Devos’s attacks on public schools: “For decades, Betsy DeVos and her family have spent millions on an anti-public education agenda, defunding, destabilizing, and demonizing public schools and public schooling, while at the same time promoting private, for-profit schooling without any regulation, transparency, accountability, or respect for civil rights and church-state separation.”
