LANSING — Today, the Democratic National Committee voted to make Michigan the fifth state to hold its primary election in the 2028 Democratic presidential primary. In response, Michigan Democratic Party Chair Curtis Hertel shared the following statement:
“I’d like to thank the members of the Democratic National Committee who recognized Michigan’s importance in our presidential elections and voted to put us in the early window. This new calendar, with Michigan as the fifth state, will make sure our 2028 nominee is battle-tested and able to win nationwide. The road to the White House runs through Michigan, and we look forward to helping elect a Democratic president in 2028.”
