DETROIT — Today, Michigan Democratic Party Chair Curtis Hertel released the following statement on Abdul El-Sayed’s victory in the U.S. Senate race:

“The Michigan Democratic Party couldn’t be more excited to congratulate Senator-Elect Abdul El-Sayed on his historic victory. Michiganders spoke loud and clear by electing a doctor, a dedicated public servant, and a tireless fighter for the working class to represent them in Washington.

“From driving down everyday costs and guaranteeing healthcare for all, to taking on corruption in politics, Abdul will always put Michigan first and he’ll be a champion for working families across our state. Abdul has the experience, character, and grit needed to deliver real results for Michigan and he will make our state proud as he takes that fight to the U.S. Senate.”
