LANSING — Corrupt multi-millionaire Mike Rogers is officially the Republican nominee for a second-straight U.S. Senate election. In response, Michigan Democratic Party spokesperson Joey Hannum released the following statement:
“Mike Rogers represents everything people hate about politics: He sold Michiganders out to the corporate special interests cutting him checks, abandoned Michigan for a Florida mansion, and got rich advising the industries he regulated in Congress. As Trump’s approval rating plummets to record lows, Rogers is still pledging to rubber stamp his toxic agenda, mocking Michiganders’ concerns about rising costs, and saying he would focus on ‘shielding’ the Trump administration and billionaires like Elon Musk from accountability, rather than stand up for working families. Michigan Democrats will hold Rogers accountable for his corruption, expose his price-hiking agenda, and defeat him a second time this November.”
Michiganders will reject Mike Rogers again in November, just like they did in 2024. Here’s why:
1) Mike Rogers used his shady D.C. connections to get rich, abandoned Michigan for a Florida mansion, and would continue to enrich himself in the U.S. Senate.
- Rogers abandoned Michigan more than a decade ago and “made good on his quest to get rich.” After spinning through the “revolving door” to make money off of industries he was responsible for regulating in Congress, Rogers saw his net worth rise from $380,000 in 2013 to up to $14.6 million in 2025.
- Rogers consulted for businesses with “shady foreign interests” and has gained “hundreds of thousands of dollars in wealth from companies that have partnered with Chinese firms.”
- Rogers made a “cyber fortune” after leaving Congress and faces massive conflict-of-interest concerns over how he could “shape policies and spending decisions” to benefit his and his wife’s positions on the advisory board of Forgepoint Capital, where they advise AI and cybersecurity companies that receive “millions of dollars in federal contracts.”
- Rogers is suspected of drawing from multiple taxpayer-funded pensions, a “morally dubious” practice known as “double dipping,” and has collected as much as $275,000 from his taxpayer-funded Michigan Legislature pension despite already being a multi-millionaire.
- Rogers used his “explosion of immense wealth” to buy a multimillion-dollar mansion in Florida — then only parachuted back into Michigan so he could run for Senate.
2) Mike Rogers stands in lockstep with Trump as his agenda raises costs for Michiganders — and now Price Hike Mike is telling Michiganders to get over it.
- Rogers has repeatedly dismissed Michiganders’ economic pain as his and Trump’s price-hiking agenda has hit pocketbooks hard. He mocked and “dismiss[ed] the economic anxiety” of Michiganders who were concerned about tariffs jacking up the price of groceries, saying “the shoe is going to pinch every once in a while.” He mocked people who he said were “screaming and thumping their chest” over having to pay more at the gas pump, and called Michiganders “nuts” with “Trump Derangement” for being concerned about rising costs.
- Rogers supported Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” which cut $1 trillion from Medicaid, threatened to kick 260,000 Michiganders off their health insurance, and put rural hospitals at risk while giving special tax breaks to multi-millionaires like himself. Rogers spread a “widely debunked lie” that Michiganders wouldn’t be kicked off their health insurance and falsely claimed rural hospitals wouldn’t be affected by his cuts.
- Rogers supported Trump’s reckless tariffs, calling them “masterful” and “an absolute win,” even as they raised costs and “destroyed” Michigan manufacturing jobs—and then falsely claimed the state had gained manufacturing jobs due to tariffs.
- Rogers repeatedly doubled down on his support for Trump’s war in Iran after making the “failing prediction” that the conflict “would not last longer than 60 days”—and then told Michiganders “We’re gonna be fine, we got plenty of oil” as gas prices skyrocketed, and said the financial strain put on Michiganders as a result of the war was “absolutely not” avoidable.

3) Mike Rogers is a corrupt politician who’s beholden to billionaires, special interests, and whoever writes him the biggest check.
- Rogers opposed efforts to rein in special interests, voted against closing the “revolving door” he used to enrich himself, and spent his time in office “consort[ing] with lobbyists.”
- Rogers was a “champion” for Big Pharma, a “leading advocate” in Congress for boosting access to opioids, and “passionately against” allowing Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices as the industry donated more than $1 million to his campaigns and PACs.
- Rogers backed “pro-Wall Street priorities” that “allowed for higher fees to be charged to Michigan residents” while his campaigns and PACs accepted “multi-million dollar donations” from wealthy banking and investment industry donors who “ultimately benefit[ed]” from his votes.
- Rogers has vowed to “protect” billionaires, “scandal-plagued companies,” and the Trump administration from accountability and said he would focus on “shielding” them from potential congressional investigations.
