Benson and McCann Celebrate Office Opening in Battle Creek

BATTLE CREEK — Today, Michigan Democrats, including Secretary of State and Democratic nominee for governor Jocelyn Benson, State Senator and 4th Congressional District Democratic nominee Sean McCann, and State Rep. Jim Haadsma celebrated the opening of the Michigan Democratic Party’s One Team Michigan coordinated campaign office in Battle Creek. MDP has opened over 20 offices across the state, through which organizers and volunteers are knocking on doors, making calls, and working to win this November.

“My opponent has already shown who he’s working for. He’s voted not once, not twice, but three times to raise the cost of health care on hundreds of thousands of Michiganders. He had an opportunity to vote to reduce housing costs, and he chose to stay home that day. And you know, in 2020, when I and so many of us were fighting to make sure the results of those accurate elections were protected, all across Michigan, he was parroting the lies of Donald Trump because he too had lost an election that year and refused to acknowledge it,” said Jocelyn Benson, Democratic nominee for governor. “We need leaders here in Michigan, at the state and federal level, who will fight for people, who will stand up for what’s right, who will tell the truth.”

“Our leaders should work for us, not special interests and themselves. Bill Huizenga has a lengthy record of using his office to enrich himself, his family, and his donors: not the people of his district,” said Sean McCann, Democratic nominee for Michigan’s 4th Congressional District. “I am running to lower costs, protect our healthcare, and make Southwest Michigan a place where everyone can thrive.”

“The people of Battle Creek know how decisions in Lansing and Washington can make or break your ability to make ends meet,” said Jim Haadsma, Democratic nominee for Michigan’s 44th House District. “The people of this district deserve a fighter in Lansing who is committed to bringing jobs back to our region, funding our public schools, and making healthcare more affordable. That is exactly what I am running to do.”
