We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to building the innovative operation and first of its kind program needed to expand democracy and the youth vote by organizing and empowering thousands of young voters to take control of their futures, re-elect President Biden and win elections up and down the ballot for Democrats in November 2024.

This position reports to the Youth Vote and Campus Organizing Director and is based in Detroit, Michigan. 

Responsibilities 

  • Coach and manage a team of Campus Regional Organizing Directors. 
  • Develop strategies and systems that lead your regions to successfully meet and exceed daily, weekly, and phase organizing goals, as well as maintain data integrity. 
  • Assist the Youth Vote and Campus Organizing Director in program development and execution.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned. 

Qualifications 

  • 2+ cycles of organizing experience with staff management responsibilities, experience managing managers is preferred. Campus organizing experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to create a motivating and inclusive culture both in specific super-regions and statewide. 
  • Experience hiring and training a sizable team. 
  • Willingness to manage a diverse team with different experiences and perspectives, and a commitment to helping them grow and succeed. 
  • Experience working in large, metric driven voter contact programs. 
  • Must have access to a vehicle and the ability to relocate if necessary.
  • A strong understanding of Google Suite and VAN, and an ability to use data to coach staff.

Campus Organizers will work on key campuses across Michigan to build organizations that engage students and prepare systems for key 2024 races. This position is unionized, reports to the Campus Regional Organizing Director, and will be based at one of Michigan’s universities and requires a significant amount of in-person, on-campus work. 

Responsibilities 

  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of student volunteers and fellows who will mobilize their peers on campus 
  • Build relationships with a coalition of administrators, student leaders, and student organizations on campus 
  • Conduct direct voter contact and list-building through dorm-storming, high-traffic canvassing, relational organizing, and more in order to hit program goals ● Hold regular organizing events on campus

We are looking for an experienced, strategic, effective communicator who works well in fast-paced environments to help lead us to victory in 2024 as Deputy Campaign Manager. This Deputy CM will work with the Campaign Manager and State Director to manage staff and coordinate across departments. This position requires some flexible hours and eagerness to assist on any task. We are seeking folks from a variety of backgrounds and professional experiences.

This position will report to the Campaign Manager and is based in Detroit, MI.

Responsibilities 

  • Work with the Campaign Manager, State Director and other campaign leadership to determine and implement campaign and program goals.
  • Assist with day-to-day campaign management.
  • Develop and implement strategies to streamline resources to support campaign activity and to avoid duplicative campaign work.
  • Facilitate cross departmental communication and effective multidisciplinary project management.
  • Work with other members of the leadership team to ensure the overall effective functioning of the campaign.
  • Other duties as assigned, to support the department and organization’s mission.
  • This position’s schedule will vary based on the needs of the campaign and point in the cycle and is likely to require evening and weekend work over the course of the election cycle.

  • At least 5 years of work experience and/or at least 3 cycles of campaign experience, with at least one of those in a statewide operations role

We are seeking a creative, experienced digital organizer to join the Michigan Coordinated Campaign. As Deputy Digital Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our digital strategy to reach and activate voters throughout Michigan. Working closely with the Digital Organizer Director, you will lead a dynamic team to leverage digital platforms and technologies to advance our campaign objectives and drive voter engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Digital Strategy Development: Collaborate with the Digital Director to develop and implement comprehensive digital strategies aligned with campaign goals and objectives.
  • Content Creation and Management: Oversee the creation, curation, and management of digital content across various platforms, including social media, email, website, and digital advertising.
  • Social Media Management: Manage and grow our social media presence on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok, ensuring consistent messaging and engagement with our target audience.
  • Email Campaigns: Lead the planning, execution, and optimization of email campaigns to communicate with supporters, mobilize volunteers, and drive fundraising efforts.

The Deputy Director of Mobilization will report to the Content & Mobilization Director and plan and implement programs to build the mobilization infrastructure necessary to persuade and mobilize voters in 2024.

In this position you will:

The Michigan Democratic Party is hiring an Engagement Deputy Organizing Director (DOD) to ensure that President Biden and Democrats up and down the ballot secure victory in November. At their core, an Engagement DOD understands how to connect and activate people online; is ready to support the building of a digital engagement program, and form relationships with Engagement Organizers (EOs) across the state.

The Engagement DOD will execute the statewide digital engagement program by developing and managing the statewide virtual volunteer and supporter community platform.   • Track engagement with coalition and political partners

  • Correspond with key coalition groups for grassroots events, earned media, and paid communications opportunities

Position Summary:

The Michigan Democratic Party tracker associate will be responsible for filming and reporting on in person and remote Republican candidate events and media appearances. They will share details of tracking opportunities on Republican candidates, audio and/or video record events, prepare transcripts on event remarks, and promptly upload audio and/or video to online databases, as well as other research tasks when needed.

  • Monitoring news clips, blogs, state and county websites, campaign activist websites and other sources in order to find and maintain schedule of tracking opportunities
  • Confirming event details, candidate attendance, and getting technology ready for events
  • Filming or audio recording each public event
  • Preparing memos and uploading footage the same day as the event
  • Researching and filming other politically relevant events
  • Recruiting volunteers to assist with tracking and training and managing tracking volunteers

The Michigan Coordinated Campaign is looking for a Voter Protection Senior Associate to join our Hotline Team. The Voter Assistance Hotline supports voters who have questions about or encounter problems during the voting process through phone and SMS conversations. We expect this program will touch over 10,000 Michigan voters this year. The Hotline Team will also administer the coordinated campaign’s ballot cure program. 

As Senior Associate, you will supervise two Associates who recruit, train, and assign volunteers for hotline and ballot cure shifts. You will have primary responsibility for maintaining accurate and efficient data reporting systems; monitoring progress to goals in terms of recruitment, training, and assignment of volunteers; and developing mechanisms for volunteer engagement throughout the campaign. This position will report to the Hotline Manager and is based in Detroit, Michigan. 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the State Voter Protection Director (VPD) and Hotline Manager in implementing the hotline and ballot cure programs, including collaborating to devise and iterate on volunteer recruitment and engagement strategies 
  • Supervise two Associates, who will be primarily responsible for volunteer recruitment and implementing other aspects of the volunteer recruitment and engagement plan
  • Train, coach and support Associates in achieving their recruitment, volunteer contact, and conversion goals
  • Assist the Hotline Manager in the development and use of training and technology tools to facilitate the operation of the hotline and ballot cure programs
  • Ensure your team’s data is accurately and timely entered into VAN (and any other required systems), and complete timely reports on progress to goals
  • Assist in other Voter Protection departmental needs as assigned
  • This position’s schedule will vary based on the needs of the campaign and point in the cycle and will require evening and weekend work over the course of the election cycle

Qualifications:

  • At least one cycle of experience in voter protection or organizing on a campaign
  • Experience working with VAN/Votebuilder; prior experience with Dialpad or Telzio is a plus
  • Experience managing staff, interns or volunteers is preferred but not required
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills 
  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively 
  • Experience juggling multiple priorities in a fast paced environment that requires organization, creativity, versatility, and problem solving

In 2024, Michigan is implementing a number of new pro-voter laws that expand voting rights in the state. Voter Protection’s Voter Assistance Hotline and ballot cure program will help Michiganders learn about and navigate these new systems so that voting is accessible to all eligible voters. Associates will recruit, train, and assign volunteers for hotline and ballot cure shifts and are essential to the voter protection mission. This position will report to the Hotline Manager and is based in Detroit, Michigan.


Responsibilities:

  • Support the State Voter Protection Director (VPD) and Hotline Manager in implementing the Voter Assistance Hotline and ballot cure program
  • Recruit volunteers by calling, texting, and otherwise reaching out to past volunteers and other volunteer prospects
  • Contact volunteers to remind them about key deadlines and action items (e.g., completing training, signing up for shifts) and to confirm their shifts (i.e., dates/times and role)
  • Provide group and one-on-one support to volunteers, as needed, to help them move through the volunteer pipeline, including assistance using required technology tools
  • Complete data entry and reports, documenting your outreach efforts in VAN/Votebuilder and other systems that may be required
  • Support the hotline and ballot cure programs in other ways that will be assigned (e.g., answering questions via email, supporting data cleanup and movement, assigning volunteers, responding to hotline voicemail/ SMS messages)
  • Assist in other Voter Protection departmental needs as assigned

This position’s schedule will vary based on the needs of the campaign and point in the cycle and will require evening and weekend work over the course of the election cycle

Qualifications:

This is a good entry-level role for someone interested in getting involved in politics and supporting voting rights in Michigan; work experience in customer service, recruitment, sales, or fundraising/donor relations would be a bonus.

Some experience volunteering or working on a campaign, knocking doors, making phone calls, or texting voters is preferred but not required; prior experience with a Voter Assistance Hotline is a plus

Strong interpersonal communication skills – people who do well in this role enjoy talking to people (including on the phone – much of your work will be phone-based)

You will work closely with our Voter Protection Team to recruit and engage volunteers to observe election activity and engage local clerks to address election administration concerns and support the team in monitoring and addressing voting and election issues.   • Assist with volunteer recruitment and engagement through phone and text banking, social media outreach.
  • Assist with gathering information about local election administration from local clerks.
  • Assist with monitoring election procedures and identifying instances of voter suppression or disenfranchisement.
  • Complete data entry and reports documenting your outreach efforts. 
  • Other tasks as assigned in furtherance of the organization’s goals and objectives. 

Qualifications:

  • Interest in voting rights laws, election procedures, and issues related to voter suppression.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable talking on the phone (much of your work will be conducted by phone and requires the ability to quickly build rapport). 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure.
  • Commitment to social justice and democratic principles.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Google Suite; experience with VAN/Votebuilder is a plus. 

Compensation:

This position offers a monthly stipend of $3000 per month.
