Amash: “If the American people understand who Mike Rogers is, they will not want him anywhere near the Senate.”
LANSING — Home is where the million-dollar mansion is. Mike Rogers has been “exposed as [a] Florida resident,” leaving voters “disgruntled” at him for quitting on Michigan. As Rogers continues to face “heat from across the GOP spectrum,” Justin Amash didn’t hold back on how he really feels about him, saying “if the American people understand who Mike Rogers is, they will not want him anywhere near the Senate.”
Here’s the latest on the “unruly” and “scrambled” GOP primary:
- The girls are fighting. The Republican primary is “hardly done” as Rogers takes more “heat from across the GOP spectrum.” That includes “25 of Michigan’s 60 delegates to the Republican National Convention call[ing] on Trump to un-endorse Rogers” and Justin Amash putting Rogers’ “feet to the fire—and running against him in the primary.”

- Rogers’ Cape Coral mansion is “a 4,751 square-foot five-bedroom, four-bathroom house” “in the name of Rogers, his wife and their family trust.”
- “Disgruntled” voters are seeing right through Rogers’ facade, as they bash him for packing up and leaving Michigan and being a “carpetbagger” who should be running in Florida instead.
- News outlets are reporting that it’ll be “difficult” for Rogers as he continues to face scrutiny for his Florida ties.
- You can try to run (from your extreme anti-abortion record), but you can’t hide. Rogers “backed near-total bans as a member of Congress,” was “one of 131 Republican co-sponsors of the Life at Conception Act, a fetal personhood bill that did not pass,” and “advocat[ed] for numerous anti-abortion measures during his time in Congress.”
- Amash attacked Rogers, saying “the idea that this guy [Rogers] should set foot anywhere near the Senate is pretty outrageous.”

- A Republican hoping to represent Michigan in the U.S. Senate suffered a setback to his campaign this week after facing allegations that he lives in Florida.
- In January, Michigan Advance said Rogers’ campaign told reporters that he was staying at a home owned by his sister-in-law in Brighton, Michigan, pending renovations on a new property he had bought in White Lake Township. The outlet said Rogers owned a large, $1.7 million home in Cape Coral, Florida, which was reportedly his official residence until his decision to run for the U.S. Senate.
- The allegations have left some voters disgruntled. Several people accused Rogers of being a “carpetbagger,” a term for a candidate seeking election in an area where they have no local connections.
- “Sounds like something someone from Florida would say when they are trying to run for Senate in Michigan,” one X user said.

And according to Lee County, Florida property assessment records, that home is in the name of Rogers, his wife and their family trust.
