Today, John James said he supported protecting coverage for pre-existing conditions despite stating in a since-deleted video that the health care law that protects people with pre-existing conditions is a ‘monstrosity’ and must be overturned. James has also pledged his “2,000%” support for Trump, who has worked relentlessly to tear away coverage protections for the 1.7 Michiganders with pre-existing conditions.
James has spent his campaign hiding from Michigan press – including dodging Michigan TV interviews for a record-breaking 9 months. Instead James has opted to spend time with right-wing GOP donors at out-of-state fundraisers in Florida, California, and D.C.
“John James has spent the entirety of this race hiding from Michigan voters and media, but he can’t hide from his record on health care,” said Michigan Democratic Party spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “It’s time for James to stop misleading voters about how his unwavering support for Trump and his full-throated support for repealing the health care law would gut pre-existing conditions coverage protections from 1.7 million Michiganders.”
