LANSING—Ahead of Donald Trump’s visit to Warren on Thursday, the Michigan Democratic Party is reminding voters about the broken promises Trump doesn’t want Michigan voters to hear.
The Trump tax scam has devastated Michigan workers, slashing taxes for corporations and the wealthy while incentivizing companies to move jobs overseas and hiking taxes on working families. Meanwhile, the federal budget deficit is projected to top $1.02 trillion this year in part due to the Trump tax scam. Adding insult to injury, studies have found that the richest 5% of Michiganders received over half of the tax cuts from the bill in 2020, and by 2027 the scam will hike taxes on over one million Michigan workers. And while Trump promised “America First” and to keep jobs from leaving Michigan, the tax scam actually incentivizes companies to move jobs overseas.
“Trump won’t tell voters, but his tax scam was a massive handout to his wealthy friends and special interests that will hike taxes on everyday working families,” said MDP spokesman Christian Slater. “Michigan workers need more than lip service and more broken promises from this ineffective president.”
