LANSING–– Ahead of Donald Trump’s visit to Warren on Thursday, the Michigan Democratic Party is reminding voters about the broken promises Trump doesn’t want Michigan voters to hear.
Just last week, a new report emerged showing Michigan lost 5,300 manufacturing jobs in 2019 alone, and pointed to Trump’s erratic trade war as a leading cause. The plummeting manufacturing job numbers come despite Trump promising Michigan voters that, “we will make Michigan into the manufacturing hub of the world once again,” and he would bring about “a complete revitalization of the Michigan manufacturing sector.” The report is the latest in a long line of broken jobs promises from a president who promised “you won’t lose one plant” while plants shut down throughout the state, including in Warren.
“He won’t tell voters, but Donald Trump broke his promises to thousands of Michigan workers who have lost their jobs because of his erratic trade war,” said Michigan Democratic Party spokesman Christian Slater. “Trump will try to duck, dodge, and spin his way around that fact but working families know him and his harmful policies are to blame.”
