What Michiganders Are Saying: John James Fails to Offer Substance or Solutions to Help Michigan

“To me [John James] is, as they say, ‘all flash and no substance’”

Michiganders from Manistee to Petoskey are calling out John James for his lack of solutions for the Great Lakes State and his focus on siding with Washington Republicans to take away health care. James went the first 438 days of his campaign without stating a single policy position on his website – and he still has no plan to protect people with pre-existing conditions, even as he supports overturning the law which provides protections for 1.7 million Michiganders with pre-existing conditions.

It’s clear that John James’ only real position is standing “2,000%” with Trump and Washington Republicans, and not with Michigan.

Lansing City Pulse: Dianne Byrum: James Aligns With Republicans On Threats To Repeal The ACA

“U.S. Senate candidate John James has repeatedly threatened to repeal the Affordable Care Act, saying it’s a “monstrosity” that needs to be removed… It is clear James will not break from Trump and Republicans even as they continue to push their reckless lawsuit to dismantle the ACA. And to make matters worse, James has not released a plan to protect people with pre-existing conditions should the ACA be repealed.”

Petoskey News: Thomas Dye: John James won’t protect our healthcare, even during a pandemic

“John James won’t protect our health care, even during a pandemic. James’ vow to repeal ACA tells me all I need to know about James as a candidate. John James won’t protect our health insurance, he doesn’t have a plan to protect those with pre-existing conditions and he won’t stand up for Michiganders as the pandemic rages on. We can’t afford to elect John James as our Senator. Lives depend on it.”

Manistee News Advocate: John Wemlinger: US Senate Requires More Substance, Less Flash

But what I want to know is: what are his policy viewpoints? How will he vote on the important issues facing Congress today? James claims success in business as an executive. There are two points to be made here. First, government is not like running a business. It involves concern for every constituent, including those who may not have voted for you. Second, he is an executive in a business that was built by his father, not him, and that gives him a leg up in the business world, to be sure.

“What we need is someone in the Senate with ideas, someone with the knowledge, experience and independence to act on behalf of all of us on dozens of thorny issues. That might be John James, but to date he has not convinced me of that. To me he is, as they say, “all flash and no substance” at this point in his campaign.”
