What Michigan Union Leaders Are Saying: Mike Rogers “Sold Out Our State to Enrich Himself, Leaving the People Who Built Michigan Behind”

Union leaders sound alarm on Mike Rogers’ toxic record of selling out Michiganders to enrich himself

LANSING — Michigan union leaders are sounding the alarm on Mike Rogers’ extensive record of selling out Michigan and our national security to enrich himself at Michiganders’ expense. Rogers has “gained hundreds of thousands of dollars in wealth through companies that have partnered with Chinese firms,” including working for AT&T while “the company was trying to broker a deal to sell Huawei products in the United States” which “the U.S. House of Representatives, citing Rogers’ investigation, urged AT&T to abandon.”

See what union leaders across the state are saying about Mike Rogers’ extensive record of selling out Michigan to enrich himself:

“Michigan workers can’t afford to have Mike Rogers in the Senate. With his dismal lifetime pro-worker voting record of just 11% from the national AFL-CIO, it’s clear that Rogers puts Michigan workers last,” said Michigan AFL-CIO President Ron Bieber.

“Mike Rogers has turned his back on Michigan’s skilled trades workforce, prioritizing his personal gain over the livelihoods of thousands of hardworking men and women. He’s sold out our state to enrich himself, leaving the people who built Michigan behind. We need leaders who stand with the workers, not those who profit at their expense,” said UA Local 333 Plumbers & Pipefitters Vice President Jeremy Garza.

“Mike Rogers refuses to stand up for workers, instead he’d rather sell us out to enrich himself. Michigan workers need a champion on our side, but Rogers has made it clear he’s only in this race for himself while Michiganders pay the price,” said Michigan Laborers District Council Business Manager Geno Alessandrini.

“Mike Rogers has shown that he will do anything to enrich himself, even when it hurts working Michiganders. Rogers is not a friend of the working class — he’s only out for himself and his wealthy special interest backers,” said IBEW Local 692 Business Manager and Michigan IBEW State Conference Chair Ryan Charney.

“Mike Rogers is more focused on helping China than hardworking Michigan families. We deserve a senator who puts working families first — not someone who’s only focused on enriching himself at the expense of Michiganders,” said Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights Political and Legislative Director Eli Isaguirre.

This is just the latest in union leaders speaking out against Mike Rogers. Union leaders and veterans have “raised concerns” about Mike Rogers “‘enriching himself’ at the expense of Michigan residents,” saying he “isn’t fit to represent Michigan.” These Michigan leaders made it clear that “we can’t trust Mike Rogers to stand up for us because he’s proven he won’t,” and “he’s more interested in enriching himself and big corporations than he is working for Michiganders.”
