Tudor Dixon Used the First Debate of the Republican Gubernatorial Primary to Praise Michigan’s Dangerous 1931 Abortion Ban As A “Good Law”

Last week in Livingston County, wrong-for-Michigan radical Tudor Dixon used her time on the debate stage to push her dangerous anti-choice agenda.

And as she has repeatedly done over her several months on the trail, Dixon once again promised to strip reproductive freedom from women even when their lives are at risk, saying “The [currently dormant 1931 near-total abortion ban] that we have now is a good law. We need to protect life in this state.”

Dixon has previously gone on the record to give full-throated endorsements to dangerous bans without any exceptions for rape, incest, or health of the mother. She is a staunch supporter of Michigan’s 1931 ban that makes abortion a felony with no exceptions for rape or incest.

Recently, she was caught claiming that Planned Parenthood has employed a “business model” to “introduce sex” to “7th graders” so they can profit off of “plenty of abortions in high school”  and then doubled-down on this baseless conspiracy theory.

MDP Spokesperson Rodericka Applewhaite issued the following statement:

“Last week’s debate showcased more of the same from wrong-for-Michigan radical Tudor Dixon – who won’t back off her dangerous agenda no matter how it harms women and families. Michiganders haven’t forgotten Dixon’s staunch opposition to exceptions rape, incest and health of the mother, nor will they look the other way on the outlandish conspiracy theories she’s embraced to justify the backwards vision she has for our state. We can’t afford this extremist in the governor’s office.”
