As Michiganders spend their holiday weekend celebrating the freedoms earned by American workers, Shane Hernandez proudly stood by the anti-government, extremist Three Percenters flag. His shameful support for the anti-American militia fits right in with Tudor Dixon’s dangerous, wrong-for-Michigan agenda to slash funding for law enforcement and undermine democracy.
Dixon must answer for the endorsement of this violent anti-law enforcement and anti-American extremist group. Several Three Percenters were charged for participating in the violent January 6th insurrection that resulted in five deaths and 140 injured law enforcement officers. In 2018 mebmers of a local Three Percenters group in Illinois were arrested for charges related to the firebombing an Islamic center in Minnesota and the failed bombing of an abortion clinic in Illinois. Members of a Kansas-based offshoot Three Percenters group were arrested for plotting to bomb an apartment complex where Somali immigrants lived in 2016.
This is just the latest example in a long pattern of extremism from Dixon, who earlier this year, proudly declared “I don’t believe we had an insurrection” and has suggested that “a combination of maybe ANTIFA” was to blame for the violent events of January 6th. When Ryan Kelley was arrested by the FBI for his role in the violent attack on the Capitol, she jumped to his defense.
Dixon has been noted for her “appetite for outlandish conspiracy theories popular with their party’s lunatic fringe.” She has embraced election conspiracy theories and repeatedly stated that the 2020 election was stolen, something that has been thoroughly debunked by the Republican-led Senate Oversight Committee in a 55-page report definitively stating that there was “no evidence of widespread or systematic fraud.”
The Dixon-Hernandez campaign’s support for the Three Percenters hate group is just another example of their commitment to dangerous policies for Michigan.
