LANSING– As Michigan faces a dire ventilator shortage and Trump refuses to fulfill requests for the critical medical device, a new report highlights the latest failure in his erratic COVID-19 response.
Despite having invoked his powers under the Defense Production Act over one week ago, Trump has yet to order ventilators from General Motors. The news comes as Michigan faces a shortage of the lifesaving medical device, with estimates saying the state will need over 8,000 additional ventilators.
“Donald Trump is refusing to take the immediate action necessary to get Michigan patients the lifesaving ventilators they need during a deadly pandemic,” said Michigan Democratic Party spokesman Christian Slater. “Trump’s erratic COVID-19 response has failed Michigan and the thousands infected throughout the state.”
