Yet again, Donald Trump’s erratic trade wars are threatening Michigan automakers as he re-imposes a 10% tariff on aluminum imports from Canada.
The latest attack on Michigan manufacturing is expected to “place American Automakers at a competitive disadvantage with our global competitors, while hurting… hundreds of thousands of workers.” The move is also expected to undermine the USMCA trade agreement, just one month after it went into effect.
As Trump continues to threaten auto jobs, Joe Biden is holding a press event with AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka and Congressman Dan Kildee highlighting Biden’s plans to support Michigan auto manufacturing and Trump’s broken promises and failure to grow auto manufacturing jobs.
“While Joe Biden highlights his plans to grow Michigan manufacturing and support auto jobs, Donald Trump is launching yet another attack on automakers as he continues his erratic and ineffectual trade war,” said Michigan Democratic Party spokesman Christian Slater. “Michigan auto workers are tired of a president who undermines them at every turn and are ready to send Joe Biden to the White House.”
