2022 Organizing Bootcamp

The Spring 2022 One Campaign Organizing Bootcamp is a paid five day intensive political organizing training designed to give participants the skills they need to be hired as full time organizers on a Michigan Democratic campaign in 2022. Participants will be paid $500 and experience what it is like to be an organizer. Click below to apply or to nominate someone you know who would be a good fit for the program.

WHAT WILL I LEARN AT THE BOOTCAMP?

Here’s a sample schedule  of what to expect

Day 1 – Intro to Organizing: Get to know our team, learn to share your story and how to build a movement
Day 2 – Intro to Campaigns: Learn how campaigns work and practice using some of the key tools we use to connect with voters
Day 3 – Organizing Skills: See digital and relational organizing im action as well as practice strong connections in your community
Day 4 – Community Building: Learn to build and manage teams plus prepare for our Day of Action
Day 5 – Bringing it All Together: Participate in a day of action and learn next steps to join our campaign in 2022

WHEN ARE APPLICATIONS DUE?

February 22nd at 11:59PM EST. Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis so please apply as early as you can.

WHEN & WHERE IS THE BOOTCAMP HELD?

Western Michigan
March 8th-12th – Ingham County

Eastern Michigan
March 15th-20th – Wayne County

Sessions will be held in person from 9:00am-6:00pm with a break for lunch. Optional socials will take place at the beginning and end of the program.

WHAT HEALTH & SAFETY MEASURES ARE YOU TAKING?

The health and safety of participants, our staff, and communities are our top priority. We will follow local public health and safety guidelines and adjust our training plans as needed. Health guidance may fluctuate in the near future so please check your emails for the most up to date news on requirements.
We ask that all participants in the program are fully vaccinated from COVID-19 (2 doses & booster) and share a negative test within 72 hours of the first day of the program. If you have questions on this protocol please reach out to [email protected].

WHY SHOULD I APPLY TO THE ORGANIZING BOOTCAMP?

If you want to make a difference in your community and shape the future of Michigan but have never known how to get involved, this program is for you. Our goal is for you to be able to play a key role in electing strong leaders that will fight for Michigan’s future this year. Additionally, we hope the program will help unlock opportunities for you to continue your impact in campaigns, advocacy, and public service after the election.

WHO SHOULD APPLY FOR THE BOOTCAMP?

The bootcamp is open to everyone.  The program aligns with the college spring break at Michigan State University and Wayne State University. As a result, seniors in college, community college, or high school at Michigan schools would be great fits for this program. The bootcamp is also open to individuals switching careers and others who are interested in learning more about what a career in organizing looks like.

WHAT DO GRADUATES DO AFTER THE PROGRAM ENDS?

Our team will work with graduates to help them apply for full time organizing roles with the campaign through November 2022.
