The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is Helping Michigan Fly Into 2022

President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is bringing a whopping $72,826,671 to Michigan’s airports – creating more efficient, upgraded travel for thousands of Michiganders who are taking trips for work, family, or fun. With 236 public airports in the state, this funding will not only upgrade terminals, renovate runways, and create new passenger amenities, it will also create jobs, jobs, and more jobs!

“President Biden and Michigan Democrats are at the forefront of ensuring communities have the infrastructure in place for folks to travel safely and efficiently,” said Michigan Democratic Party spokesperson Alyssa Bradley. “This funding is not only critical for modernizing and improving Michigan airports, but will also create thousands of new jobs that will be a game changer for the Great Lakes State as we dive into the new year.”

Public airports can apply to invest in a variety of projects by submitting applications for funding to the Federal Aviation Administration in the coming weeks. Below are what a few of the airports across the state have the chance to receive this year as they make airplane travel easier for Michiganders:

  • Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport: $33,306,230
  • Gerald R Ford International: $6,081,477
  • Bishop International: $2,857,107
  • Cherry Capital: $2,458,571
  • Sawyer International: $1,038,294
