#TBT: Three Years Since Trump’s Broken Promise on Pre-Existing Conditions

LANSING– Three years ago today, Donald Trump promised to protect pre-existing conditions on Face the Nation, saying “’we have a clause that guarantees’” pre-existing condition coverage.”

WATCH

Since the promise, Trump has repeatedly attacked protections for people with pre-existing conditions, fighting to gut the protections in his health care bill and then launching a lawsuit to end the protections. Now, amid a global pandemic, Trump is continuing his assault on Michiganders with pre-existing conditions, supporting a lawsuit in front of the Supreme Court that would end the critical protections.

“Time and again Donald Trump has promised to protect people with pre-existing conditions, but after years of lies, Michiganders know he’s broken that promise,” said Michigan Democratic Party spokesman Christian Slater. “Even in the middle of a global pandemic, Donald Trump can’t help but continue his assault on protections for pre-existing conditions.”
