LANSING — In the past week, Donald Trump’s Cabinet and senior administration picks have made one thing abundantly clear — he will always put the billionaires who bankrolled his campaign ahead of Michigan’s working families. With the announcement of Trump’s appointments, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes released the following statement:
“In Donald Trump’s second term, his billionaire Cabinet members stand to profit off yet another round of tax cuts for the ultra-rich as Trump and his cronies put Wall Street over Michiganders. We saw it in his first term: Median household income growth declined when Trump passed tax breaks that benefited his billionaire buddies at the cost of middle-class families.
“Time and time again, Trump has shown that he is wildly out of sync with Michiganders and our values – and he wants to make our lives more expensive. Ahead of his second term, Trump’s choice of the richest Cabinet of all time shows that his priorities haven’t changed – and he will never put working Michiganders first.”
Already, Trump’s Cabinet and advisors are the wealthiest in history, with a combined net worth of at least $344 billion. Under a second Trump term, Michiganders’ household income stands to plummet if Trump enacts his dangerous plans to raise consumer costs and launch what economists are calling an inflation bomb.
