LANSING — With the U.S. House set to vote this week on whether to release the Epstein files, failed GOP Senate candidate Mike Rogers has refused to say where he stands on making them public, even as polls show the vast majority of Americans want all the files released.
Rogers’ silence comes amid the release of new emails from convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s estate that suggest President Trump “knew more about his abuse than he acknowledged” and news that Trump tried to peel off Republicans who signed the House discharge petition last week. This also comes after Rogers’ campaign dodged questions last month about accepting a $12,000 donation from a Florida billionaire who was charged in a human trafficking investigation.
In response, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Curtis Hertel released the following statement:
“Mike Rogers just showed Michiganders that instead of supporting the victims who are demanding transparency and justice, he fell in line behind Trump who begged Republican members of Congress to cover up Epstein’s abuse. His silence isn’t just cowardice—it’s complicity. Michiganders will remember that when Mike Rogers had the opportunity to speak out against predators and stand on the side of public safety and justice, he chose political expediency instead.”
