STATEMENT: Michigan Dems Slam Election Deniers Testimony in Hall’s Phony Election Integrity Committee

This morning, Matt Hall’s sham Election Integrity Committee brought in two election deniers to spread misinformation and distrust

LANSING — Earlier today, Matt Hall’s House Election Integrity Committee brought in two fervent election deniers, Ramon Jackson and Pastor Lorenzo Sewell, to spread conspiracy theories and undermine Michigan’s election security. Michigan Republicans are pushing a dangerous, extremist agenda that will disenfranchise countless Michiganders while fearmongering around the results.

“The election deniers in today’s committee hearing are yet another sign that Michigan Republicans are untethered from fact and reality when it comes to our elections,” said Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Curtis Hertel. “Along with the poll tax bills that jeopardize thousands of voters’ access to the ballot box, Michigan Republicans are making it clear that safe and secure elections are not their goal. Just like the dangerous SAVE Act before Congress that would disenfranchise millions – particularly married women – across the country, MAGA Matt Hall’s push for proof of citizenship for voting is a redundant effort that will only restrict voting access in Michigan.

“MAGA Matt wishes he was Trump’s mini-me, and his caucus is spreading misinformation and distrust around election security so he can cry conspiracy whenever he doesn’t like the results. Right now, Michigan Dems are the only ones who are actually working to secure Michiganders’ access to the ballot box — without sacrificing its security.”
