Chair Barnes celebrates President Obama’s visit to Detroit as early voting begins
LANSING — Today, President Barack Obama will speak at the Harris-Walz campaign event in Detroit to encourage Detroiters to get out and vote early. Ahead of the event, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes released the following statement:
“Michigan is glad to have President Obama back in Detroit to motivate Michiganders to vote early in the election that will decide the fate of our families, our freedoms, and our democracy. Over the past two years, Michigan Dems have made voting safer and more accessible, and we’re thrilled to have President Obama here to encourage Michiganders to take advantage of these new opportunities.
“In his first term, President Obama ushered in historic enthusiasm in Detroit with his message of hope for the future, and now he is showing Detroiters that Kamala Harris offers them that same vision of a new way forward. To protect our democracy and access to the ballot box for the years to come, we must elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.”
