STATEMENT: Michigan Dems Chair Slams Speaker Hall and Leader Nesbitt for Taking Credit on Selfridge After Voting Against Millions for the Base

LANSING — Earlier today, MAGA Matt Hall attempted to take credit for the jobs coming to the Selfridge National Guard Base, after previously voting against millions of dollars for the base.

Real leaders like Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, state Sen. Kevin Hertel, and state Rep. Denise Mentzer understand how important it is to bring these high-quality jobs to Michigan — which is why they’ve fought for Selfridge for years. Meanwhile, Matt Hall and Aric Nesbitt voted against millions of dollars twice, making their hypocrisy crystal clear. In response, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Curtis Hertel released the following statement:

“This is another hypocritical, cheap grab for political points by Matt Hall that Michiganders are going to see right through. Along with Aric Nesbitt, Hall’s record makes it obvious that he has done nothing but oppose the Selfridge project up until it was politically convenient for him to try and take credit. Governor Whitmer and Michigan Democrats are the ones who did the work to deliver this mission to Macomb, and no amount of lies from Michigan Republicans is going to change that.”

Take a look and see exactly how much money Hall and Nesbitt tried to block:
