LANSING — Today, MIGOP state Rep. Jim DaSana announced he will introduce articles of impeachment against Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. Responding to this abuse of power, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Curtis Hertel released the following statement:
“As long as state Rep. Jim DaSana continues to be a conspiracy theorist who would rather spend his time going down rabbit holes than helping the Michiganders that voted for him, he has no place holding public office. Michigan Republicans should be working with Democrats to pass a budget, lower costs, and improve the lives of Michiganders – instead, they’re peddling repeatedly debunked election conspiracy theories and abusing their power to do so.
“Secretary Benson has faithfully served Michiganders and our democracy as Secretary of State. Meanwhile, state Rep. DeSana and the House Republicans are playing political games to distract from the fact that they don’t have any real solutions or ability to lead. This is the second elected official state Rep. DeSana has filed to impeach for doing their job and we are confident it will be equally unsuccessful.”
