STATEMENT: Michigan Dem Chair Cheers UAW’s Historic Tentative Agreement with GM and Stellantis

LANSING Following the news that the United Auto Workers has reached a historic tentative agreement with General Motors today, and Stellantis over the weekend, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes released the following statement:

“Autoworkers are showing the country what it means to fight to grow the middle class – and win. We are so excited about these historic tentative agreements that UAW members will now have the chance to vote on after bravely fighting for fair contracts that reflect the sacrifices autoworkers have made.

“Michigan Democrats, together with our partners in labor, are bringing jobs home to Michigan and ensuring our workers are paid what they deserve. We stand firmly in solidarity with the UAW and its members as they consider these hard-fought agreements which are bigger than just the UAW – they are about fighting for a brighter future for all workers in Michigan and building a world-class economy and living standard here at home.”
