LANSING – Today, the Republican National Committee is holding a press conference where they’re expected to peddle Donald Trump’s election lies.
In response, Michigan Democratic Party Chair Lavora Barnes released the following statement:
“Apparently it’s news to Donald Trump, Michael Whatley, and the Republican Party – but Michigan voters sent Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to the White House in 2020. Unfortunately, today’s press conference makes it clear that MAGA extremists will continue to do everything in their power to silence voters in Detroit – especially if they’re Black. These extremists are not just a disgrace, they’re an active threat to our democracy and our way of life here in Michigan. That’s why from now until November, we must make sure they don’t come anywhere near the White House ever again.”

- Trump refused to accept his loss in 2020 and tried to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters in Michigan, especially in Detroit.
- Trump claimed Republicans in the Michigan legislature were only “Republicans in name” because they refused to peddle his election lies
- Trump tried to overturn the results of the election and was caught on tape pressuring Michigan officials to follow his orders
- Trump called himself a very proud election denier
- At his rally earlier this year in Freeland, Michigan, he set the stage to make the same election fraud claims if he loses this November
