STATEMENT: Mayor Schor on Vance Threatening $500 Million Investment in Lansing

LANSING — With J.D. Vance refusing to commit to honoring the $500 million federal grant for the GM plant in Lansing, Lansing Mayor Andy Schor released the following statement:

“J.D. Vance is putting hundreds of jobs at the GM Lansing Grand River plant at risk by refusing to support the $500 million investment VP Harris delivered with her tiebreaking vote for the Inflation Reduction Act. These grants will ensure we have more good-paying, union jobs right here in Lansing to keep Michigan at the forefront of the auto industry. This election is a choice between Vice President Harris’ commitment to invest in manufacturing jobs and American workers, and build an opportunity economy — and Donald Trump and J.D. Vance, who are threatening to withdraw the dollars for these jobs. I hope everyone in Lansing and Michigan and across the nation are paying attention.”
