The Michigan Democratic Party released the following statement on behalf of Chair Lavora Barnes on the results of the primary for the U.S. Senate:
“The choice in this race could not be more clear: Senator Gary Peters, who has a proven record of actually getting things done for Michigan and John James, a failed politician who spent most of his first year as a candidate fundraising out-of-state instead of hearing from Michiganders. Despite trying to have it both ways on everything from his support for President Trump to his agenda to take away Michiganders’ health care, James isn’t fooling anyone. He’s vowed to repeal the health care law which protects 1.7 million Michiganders with pre-existing conditions, and has said in his own words he supports Trump. James has proven time and again that he’ll side with Trump, Mitch McConnell and Betsy DeVos even when it hurts Michigan.”
