MDP Membership Requirements
The Spring State Convention is free to attend and open to all members of the Michigan Democratic Party.
According to MDP rules, to be eligible to become credentialed through the VOATZ app and vote at the State Nominating Convention, a person must be a member of the Michigan Democratic Party for at least thirty (30) days prior to February 22, 2025, which is January 23, 2025.
To meet the deadline to be eligible to vote, an online contribution toward a membership or a free membership application must be submitted by 11:59 PM on January 23, 2025.

Printable membership applications are available here. To meet the deadline to be eligible to vote, a hard copy of a membership application must be either: hand-delivered to Hart-Kennedy House by 5 PM on January 23, 2025, or mailed to Hart-Kennedy House, and postmarked no later than January 23, 2025.

January 23, 2025 but expire before February 22, 2025 are eligible to become credentialed and vote if they renew on or before February 22, 2025.
*According to rule 3.2.2 of the MDP bylaws, the thirty (30) day rule does not apply to precinct delegates, Democratic elected officials, or Democratic nominees to partisan office. Instead, precinct delegates, Democratic elected officials and Democratic nominees to partisan office may become members of the Michigan Democratic Party on January 23, 2025 when they register at the State Convention.
Credentialing
To be eligible to vote at the State Convention, a person must satisfy the membership requirements listed above. That member must also become successfully credentialed through the VOATZ electronic voting system in order to sign candidate petitions and vote at the Spring State Convention.

Voting
All eligible members of the Michigan Democratic Party who become successfully credentialed through the VOATZ electronic voting system are eligible to vote at the Spring State Convention.
Voting shall be by voice vote on the Convention floor. In the event of a contested election, electronic ballots shall be available through the VOATZ electronic voting system to all credentialed delegates as outlined in the Convention Rules.
Accommodations
Hotel Information
The MDP has not secured a hotel block for Convention attendees.
County and Congressional District Conventions
All counties are required to hold County Conventions. In addition, District Conventions shall be held in the 6th, 12th and 13th Congressional Districts in order to ensure that MDP members residing in Wayne County are represented at these conventions. In those counties comprising more than one Congressional District, each portion of the county within one Congressional District shall be considered a “county” and shall hold a convention.
- Date: All Local Conventions will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025
- Place: Each Local Convention shall convene at the time and place designated in the local call issued by each County or Congressional District.
- Purpose: Elect members and alternates to the state convention committees: Rules, Resolutions, and Credentials. Consider resolutions to be forwarded to the State Party.
