Screenshots Are Forever: Shane Hernandez Gets Caught Saying “Cheese” with Extreme Three Percenters, Deletes Post

After posing for a photo in front of an extremely noticeable flag of the anti-government group the Three Percenters, Shane Hernandez is now trying – and failing – to distance himself from their violence and extremism by deleting the picture he proudly posted as an example of “strong communities”

The reality is that removing this post isn’t going to change what voters already know — the Dixon-Hernandez campaign is all about uplifting “outlandish conspiracy theories popular with their party’s lunatic fringe,” fighting to slash funding for Michigan law enforcement, and undermining democracy.

Shane Hernandez, the GOP candidate for Lieutenant Governor running alongside Tudor Dixon, has apologized after posting a photo to Twitter.

The photo showed him standing behind a Three Percenters flag, and beside a man he claims he bought honey from.

The Republican candidate for lieutenant governor deleted a post he made online that featured him in front of a flag associated with an anti-government militia group.

Three Percenters is a group associated with fringe beliefs that a small force of armed individuals can overthrow a tyrannical government which its members argue is the current U.S. government, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Federal prosecutors have tied supporters of the Three Percenters movement to the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol and to the plot to kidnap and harm Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, whom Dixon is running against this fall.

In reaction to the Hernandez photo, the Michigan Democratic Party issued a statement Sunday calling on Dixon, a political commentator from Norton Shores, to “answer for the endorsement of this violent anti-law enforcement and anti-American extremist group
