LANSING– This Valentine’s Day, the Michigan Democratic Party is sharing a poem with Michiganders highlighting Donald Trump’s attacks on critical earned benefits:
Roses are red, violets are blue, Trump will slash Medicare, and Social Security too.
The short poem showcases Trump’s relentless war on Medicare and Social Security, programs he has proposed slashing as recently as this week. The proposed cuts come after Trump promised Michigan voters he would not, “cut Social Security like every other Republican and I’m not going to cut Medicare or Medicaid.”
“Donald Trump is leaving Michigan’s working families with a broken heart as he breaks his promises to never attack Social Security or Medicare,” said Michigan Democratic Party spokesman Christian Slater. “This November, voters will break up with this president who refuses to end his war on their earned benefits.”
