RELEASE: Michigan Leaders Sound Alarm on Mike Rogers’ Residency Issues

LANSING — This morning, state Representative Penelope Tsernoglou, state Representative Julie Brixie, and Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum sounded the alarm on Mike Rogers’ residency issues following the bombshell reports that Rogers does not live in the house that he claimed to.

“Mike Rogers has continued to mislead voters, stating he lives in Michigan while having no certificate of occupancy in the home he claims to reside in. Michiganders deserve to be represented in the Senate by a candidate that lives in Michigan, and will reflect the values of our great state. Without a doubt, that candidate is Elissa Slotkin,” said state Representative Penelope Tsernoglou.

“Michiganders value accountability, and they deserve a Senator who understands them. Mike Rogers can’t be accountable to the people of Michigan while he’s living in Florida,” said state Representative Julie Brixie.

“It is concerning that Mike Rogers has been lying about his address for the majority of his campaign. This situation leaves voters with a lot of questions that need answers, and Mike Rogers should answer those so the public can make an informed decision about whether he would adequately represent Michigan,” said Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum.

News outlets have reported that Mike Rogers has confirmed that he is not living at the house that he claims to. The house that Rogers claimed to live in “had no certificate of occupancy,” and it appears “to be still in a construction phase, with an unfinished deck and a Port-A-Jon next to the driveway.” Reporters note that “issues surrounding the residency of the former seven-term congressman from mid-Michigan have lingered for almost as long as he has sought to be Michigan’s next U.S senator.” Leaders across the state are “raising concerns” about where Rogers lives.
