With the special election officially set, Michigan Dems are ready to beat Republican extremism once again
LANSING — Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the primary and general election dates to fill the vacant state Senate seat in the 35th Senate district. Following this announcement, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Curtis Hertel released the following statement:
“We are excited and ready to elect another Democrat to fill the very large shoes left by Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet. At the federal, state, and local levels, Republicans are gutting critical programs and hurting Michiganders — and they’ve had enough. Whether it’s junior extremist Bill G. Schuette, Timothy Beson, or any other Republican billionaire lackey, Michiganders in the 35th district are ready to send them packing. We look forward to coming out of the primary and electing another Democrat to fight for them in Lansing.
“Unlike Republicans, Michigan Democrats are a party by and for working Michiganders, and we stand ready to elect another champion for the families of the 35th Senate district. Game on.”
