While Republicans are trying to defund health care across the state, Michigan Democrats are highlighting the devastating consequences of the potential Medicaid cuts
LANSING — Today, the state Senate Health Policy Committee heard testimony from MDHHS officials and medical, hospital, and community leaders about the impacts of Republicans’ Medicaid cuts on Michigan. In response to the hearings, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Curtis Hertel released the following statement:
“Millions of Michiganders rely on Medicaid for their kids’ inhalers, their parents’ home care, and doctors visits for the whole family — which is exactly what Trump and Republicans are trying to rip away. Today’s hearing just continued to show us where their priorities lie, and it certainly isn’t with the working families of Michigan.
“Congressmen John James, Tom Barrett, Bill Huizenga, and even state-level Republicans like Matt Hall have continued to do nothing while their constituents are thrown to the wolves by these cuts. They’re either cowards or sycophants — regardless, Michiganders deserve better.”
