Instead of working to lower costs or create jobs, Matt Hall and state House Republicans are creating political theater around Michigan child care
LANSING — Today, Matt Hall’s pet Oversight Committee held hearings to politicize Michigan’s MiLeap child care programs and distract from their own track record of failing to deliver for Michiganders. In response to these sham hearings, Michigan Democratic Party Chair Curtis Hertel released the following statement:
“Matt Hall and state House Republicans passed a record low number of bills last year because they were too busy bowing down to Trump, and now, they’re using these oversight hearings to distract from their abject failure to help working families. Protecting taxpayer dollars is always a top priority, but House Republicans are just making noise to avoid accountability for their own behavior.
“These legislators were elected to work on behalf of their constituents, but instead, House Republicans are wasting taxpayers’ time and money to make political theater. It’s an embarrassment to the people they represent, and the voters won’t forget this come November.”
