RELEASE: Michigan Dems Applaud Dem Leadership on Passing State Budget

LANSING — With the passage of the state budget early this morning, Michigan Democrats saved free school meals, lowered costs for seniors and working families, and created a sustainable road plan with thousands of new, good-paying, union jobs for decades to come. Following this success, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Curtis Hertel released the following statement:

“We’re so proud of Michigan Democrats in the state legislature for fighting and delivering for families across the state. By protecting health care and free school meals, lowering costs, and fixing the damn roads, Michigan Dems are putting money back into working Michiganders’ pockets while creating jobs and opportunity for years to come.

“Democrats here in Michigan also took action to protect working families from the huge federal cuts, attacks on our health care, and economic uncertainty that we are facing thanks to Republicans in DC. At the end of the day, Democrats are ensuring that this state budget works for your families and your communities — because no matter what, we will never stop fighting for a brighter future for all Michiganders.”
