LANSING — After MAGA Matt Hall and House Republicans decided to illegally claw back funding for vital projects across the state, Attorney General Dana Nessel issued a formal opinion today labeling state House Republicans’ actions unconstitutional.
Following AG Nessel’s action, Michigan Democratic Party Chair Curtis Hertel released the following statement:
“State House Republicans knew that cutting funding from affordable housing, health care, and crucial programs across the state was wrong, but they didn’t care. At the behest of MAGA Matt Hall’s inept leadership, the Republican caucus illegally stole money from Michiganders, further showing just how out of touch they are with working people.
“As always, Democrats are the ones fighting for working families and standing up for our most vulnerable Michiganders. These cuts were an abomination, and we look forward to defeating the shameful Republicans who championed them this November.”
