Vulnerable House Republicans silent on plan that will throw thousands of auto workers in their district under the bus
LANSING — Since Speaker of the House Matt Hall unveiled the Republican ‘Closed for Business’ plan that will lead to mass layoffs of auto workers, vulnerable House Republicans like Representatives Rylee Linting, Jamie Thompson, Jim DeSana, and Ron Robinson have been silent on the jobs that will leave their districts.
As a reminder, Hall’s plan will kill thousands of good-paying auto industry jobs across Michigan and force automakers and suppliers to move their business out of state or overseas.
“Representatives Linting, Thompson, DeSana, and Robinson represent thousands of auto workers — and are now abandoning them by supporting Hall’s Closed for Business plan which threatens those jobs,” said Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes. “These representatives should be ashamed, and their constituents deserve better than Republicans who won’t fight for their jobs.
“Michigan’s auto workers put the country on wheels, but when it’s time to have their back, Republicans are nowhere to be found. Those jobs support families, put food on the table, and send kids to college — and Michigan Dems will not let hard-working families suffer because Republicans are too attached to their extremist agenda to protect their jobs.”
