QUICK CLIP: Bought-and-Paid-For Candidate Tudor Dixon Confirms Her Campaign Is Run By Special Interests

DeVos sellout and bought-and-paid-for candidate Tudor Dixon is not trying to hide her campaign’s reliance on special interests.  In an interview with 9&10 News, she bragged about support from special interests and outside groups in the form of “a lot of ads” and “allies coming in” to prop up her wrong-for-Michigan agenda

TUDOR DIXON: The campaign is really a 24-hour-a-day job, so we’re out there posting on social media, talking to people. And you’ll see a lot of ads and outside groups coming in, allies coming in to help as well in the coming weeks. We just feel really good about what’s going to happen in the next five weeks.

At the expense of actual Michiganders, Dixon has been courting the support of these entities throughout her campaign – and it’s been paying off. PACs and out-of-state special interests have been putting in overtime on her behalf.

Dixon’s entire operation has been almost exclusively bankrolled by the “kingmak[ing]” DeVos family. To date, they have “contributed more than $4 million to outside groups,” $1 million of which went to Michigan Families United, a PAC “shrouded in secrecy” that runs the majority of the airwave interference propping up Dixon’s campaign.

Additionally, Dixon has benefited from the support of Koch-foundedastroturf political group” Americans for Prosperity and their five-figure ad buys.

But the Kochs and DeVoses aren’t alone. After they publicly lined up behind her, PACs supporting Dixon funded by other “deep-pocketed donors” were able to spend “a combined $2.18 million” in her favor to drag her through the bitter primary. This outpaces Dixon’s own advertising spending 20 times over and even surpasses what she raised for her campaign in total.

So far this cycle, one PAC put five figures on the radio, another threw in $100,000, a different one “reserved $103,000 worth of airtime,” another announced a  $1 million ad campaign, and Susan B. Anthony List announced they would be parachuting in six figures.

MDP spokesperson Rodericka Applewhaite issued the following statement:

“DeVos sellout Tudor Dixon isn’t even trying to hide the fact that she is completely beholden to the special interests and wealthy families propping up her campaign. Working families know that these outside groups expect returns on their investment at the expense of Michigan‘s economy, roads, and public schools.”
