Well aware that her stance is completely out of touch with millions of Michigan women and families, staunch anti-abortion extremist Tudor Dixon is once again attempting to hide her plan to ban abortion.
During a campaign event last night in Rochester Hills, Dixon fed attendees a lie when she said, “Never once have I said I’m running on my personal pro-life position.” WATCH below.
It was immediately flagged as a “definite shift in tone” by WDIV Local 4, and for good reason.
It is an extensively-documented fact that Dixon unequivocally supports a dangerousabortion ban from 1931 that criminalizes abortion, makes felons out of reproductive health care providers and provides no exceptions for rape or incest. Reinforcing her extremism that also disregards the health of the mother, she’s also said that child sexual assualt victims should not have access to abortion because there’s “healing through that baby.”
In line with her belief that the near total ban is a “good law,” Dixon – who has been endorsed by special interest groups Susan B. Anthony List, Michigan Right to Life, and National Right to Life – has called the ballot proposal that would codify the reproductive healthcare protections laid out in Roe v. Wade in Michigan’s constitution “extreme.”
And during a fake “policy forum” set up for the sole purpose of capturing footage for DeVos-funded PAC Michigan Families United, Dixon welcomed the then-potential of Roe being overturned as “such a unique opportunity for all of us running to talk about life in a different way” before arguing the decision would “[give] women that knowledge of what it is to be a mama.”
MDP spokesperson Rodericka Applewhaite issued the following statement:
“After relying heavily on her staunch anti-abortion extremism to get her past the primary, Tudor Dixon is now trying her hand at revisionist history in the hopes that millions of women and families who would be directly impacted by her backwards, no exceptions agenda would somehow forget where she’s been this whole time. Michiganders don’t need our help remembering the fact that if elected, Dixon would ensure healthcare providers are jailed while children are forced to give birth after being assaulted. Michigan women and families deserve a leader like Governor Whitmer who has repeatedly proven her commitment to protecting reproductive rights.”
