Today, the Michigan Democratic Party is releasing a new digital video highlighting failed politician John James’ hostile record toward LGBTQ+ Michiganders.
The video highlights James’ extreme, out-of-touch positions that would halt progress for Michigan. James has refused to support legal protections against discrimination, promised to confirm judges that would be hostile to LQBTQ+ rights, and campaigned against marriage equality – telling supporters that he believes in “marriage being between one woman and one man” as recently as 2018.
Despite the recent landmark ruling in the Supreme Court protecting LGBTQ+ rights in the workplace and as we celebrate the anniversary of marriage equality becoming law, the community continues to face discrimination. Meanwhile, James has stood in lockstep with Trump and Pence, supporting their agenda “2000%” even as they work to roll back progress and continue to block the Equality Act.
