LANSING — As Florida resident Mike Rogers campaigns today in Texas with national Republicans to brag about his price-hiking agenda, a reminder that he’s celebrated cuts to public safety and “firmly supported” the Republican tax law gutting Medicaid and spiking costs for Michiganders while giving tax handouts to multi-millionaires like himself:
- Rogers celebrated cuts to public safety. He vowed to “keep DOGE a reality” and make their “great cuts” “permanent,” even as the Trump administration gutted millions from Michigan public safety programs and slashed all funding for a task force to combat drug cartels and other transnational crime at the border.
- Rogers supported GOP Medicaid cuts—then lied about it. He backed the GOP tax law cutting $1 trillion from Medicaid to fund tax handouts for millionaires like himself, calling it a “monumental victory.” He then spread a “widely debunked lie” that it won’t kick Michiganders off Medicaid, even as hundreds of thousands across the state are at risk of losing coverage.
- Rogers backed the GOP plan endangering rural hospitals—then lied about it. He falsely claimed Michigan’s rural hospitals have “adequate protection” from his Medicaid cuts. A local physician called this “either profound ignorance or a deliberate deception” as several facilities statewide face high risk for closure, “putting entire communities at risk of becoming health care deserts.”
- Rogers mocked Michiganders facing higher costs from his price-hiking agenda. Price Hike Mike was caught “making fun of those who worry about higher prices” and claiming they’re “worth the financial strife being put on the American people.” He’s also falsely claimed there’s no inflation and “working families [are] not paying more” under Trump.
